The Foundation for Research, Development and Innovation in Science and Engineering (FRDISI) was set up in 2016 with a view to strengthening the Public-Private Partnership in Morocco in the research and innovation sphere.
This foundation brings public stakeholders (Casablanca’s Hassan II University and National Graduate School for Electricity and Mechanical Engineering/ENSEM, etc.) together alongside socio-professional stakeholders (EIGSI, Moroccan businesses, etc.) to share and pool resources for the purposes of developing experimental research platforms. This foundation is ultimately committed to meeting the country’s economic requirements by supporting businesses, aiding the creation of tech start-ups and increasing young people’s integration into the workplace through research-led training.
EIGSI is a founding member of this foundation. FRDISI has its own resources, including a building housing laboratories and offices. It also relies on Moroccan academic and university laboratories and, particularly where EIGSI is concerned, on the expertise developed within the LRI laboratories for the activities of LM2I and LESE for L3E and LERPA. LRI and LESE are ENSEM-based laboratories of Casablanca’s Hassan II University. Other laboratories have teamed up with this foundation and membership remains open to newcomers based on the projects developed and skill sets required. In this regard, the FRDISI foundation acts as the Federation of laboratories in a similar way to what is found in France.
