Openness to others, to innovation and to the world is one of the five core values of the school. This quality is acquired by new and different experiences. International experience provides the perfect setting to embrace this value and to develop people skills and relational leadership skills, two key skills of EIGSI engineers.
International experience for all EIGSI students
International experience is a key factor in EIGSI’s educational philosophy, and the students must spend at least 12 weeks abroad in order to graduate. They can spend a semester studying in one of our 72 partner institutions worldwide, or do an internship.
The credits earned abroad are recognized by the ECTS system and included in the transcript as well as the Diploma Supplement. (See General Study Regulations, & Grading System)
Command of 2 or 3 languages
At EIGSI, learning two foreign languages is mandatory. A third foreign language is optional but encouraged. English is the required first foreign language, and engineering students can choose between German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Chinese for the second foreign language. Finally, the options for the third language are Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian.
EIGSI encourages its students to earn language certificates because these certificates can make a real difference for young graduates on the job market. Three certifications are available for our students:
Test Of English for International Communication (TOEIC) – for English. A score of 785 or higher on the TOEIC is required to earn the EIGSI general engineering degree.
Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) – for English. A score of 60 or higher is required to earn the EIGSI general engineering degree.
