LM2I: Laboratory for Smart and Integrated Mobility.
The LM2I Laboratory’s aim is to develop and promote technical innovations for the benefit of clean, sustainable mobility. It also sets out to provide solutions for optimising flows, traffic in particular (smart city).
On that topic, the researchers often get involved with projects conducted jointly with La Rochelle urban community(CDA).
The expertise developed bears on:
- Development of innovative logistics architectures.
- Evaluation of new systems.
- Optimum flow management via digital tools.

Explanation of the project:
AGREMOB is a technical and financial mechanism for developing projects geared towards carbon neutrality.
Its principle: to create a cooperative tool for the issuance and sale of carbon credits at local scale. It will make it possible to calculate the weight of each action in a local carbon footprint and to set up an efficient offsetting system.
Duration: September 2019 – December 2022
Explanation of the project:
La Rochelle (CDA) would like to recover part of the power generated from solar PV technology at the Atlantech eco-neighbourhood in the form of hydrogen to power some twenty utility vehicles and cargo bikes. Vehicle hire, delivery and courier services are the target applications of this project.
EIGSI’s involvement in this project concerns assessing the energy savings and efficiency of the overall system.

VELUD project
Duration: 26 months
The VELUD project aims at testing an electric light utility vehicle to reduce the negative impact last-mile delivery has on air quality. This vehicle has an innovative structure comprising a “tractor” and an “add-on”, i.e. a trailer which can be adapted for different uses.
CITYMOBIL2 project
Duration: 48 months
The CITYMOBIL2 project is the second part of the CITYMOBIL project. It sets out to test the use of autonomous (or semi-autonomous) public transport vehicles in La Rochelle in a bid to optimise traffic flows in urban areas and ease road congestion.
COLIS URBAIN project [urban parcel]
Duration: September 2013 – August 2015
COLIS URBAIN is a project aimed at exploring and combining various drivers for reducing the impact on air quality and noise of last-mile freight delivery in city centres (urban freight).

Key partnerships
The LM2I laboratory works closely with the Foundation for Research, Development and Innovation in Science and Engineering (FRDISI).
EIGSI and LM2I in particular develop collaborative projects on the mobility theme together with the IT, Image and Interaction Laboratory (L3i). One of the research professors at LM2I, Benjamin Duthil, is also an Associate Researcher of L3i. Thanks to this collaboration, theses can be jointly supervised between EIGSI and L3i.
